On June17, 2025 at 6:30 PM we are excited to be at the Santa Monica Flyers Flight School for a presentation and discussion on FAA type-certified electric aircraft!
Many companies are currently working to develop practical electrically powered aircraft but the Pipistrel Velis Electro was actually FAA certified in 2018 and is currently flying at multiple sites throughout the world. Our hosts tonight at Santa Monica Flyers will be discussing the performance of the all electric Pipistrel and their experience training pilots to fly it. Pipistrel is a 30 year old Slovenian company that is now part of Textron eAviation
Our Speaker: Sarah Burch
Sarah Burch is a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI/I/MEI) with over 1300 hours of flight experience across various ASEL and AMEL airframes. She began her aviation career in 2022 in Reno and has since had the opportunity to fly in a range of environments including Alaska, California, and Georgia. In Alaska, she flew in challenging weather and terrain, gaining valuable bush flying experience. As a flight instructor, helping students build quality, safe, technical skills for Private, Commercial, and Airline Transport certifications has been her key focus earning her a gold seal. Thanks to Santa Monica Flyers she’s able to share her love of flying with the electric-craft curious.
Our Host: Max von Mallinckrodt
Max started his flying career at an aviation university called Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 2012. There, he obtained his Private Pilot License and studied Aeronautical Science. He now has an ATP Certificate and is type rated in the ERJ 170/190. Max is the General Manager and longest standing employee to date.
