CJ Sturckow, one of Virgin Galactic’s pilots, was a Top Gun pilot for the Marines, a Space Shuttle Commander for NASA, and now pilots VSS Unity, a spaceship that will take commercial passengers to space. One experience CJ values that helped him take on these roles is his time working with Cal Poly San Luis Obispo SAE, where he and a small team designed and built a race-prepped Toyota Hilux that achieved 4th place at the 1982 Mint 400.
